MINUTES OF DIRECTORS MEETING. Meeting held on Monday 7 August 2017 - 12.00 pm at Don Cayo Golf.

Present: Wolfgang Fischer (President), Antonio Perez Albiñana (Vice President ES), Richard Kent (Treasurer), Matthew King (Secretary), , Annetta Eberhardt (NHW coordinator), John Schimell, Apologies for absence –Willem Van Oorde, Emil Apeldoorn, Sonata Lungmus, Francisco Javier Gomez, Terry Miles (Web coordinator), 1). The Minutes of meeting held 23/06/2017 were approved. 2. Treasurers Report. 3. Secretary’s Report. MK reported that there were now 291 members. Problems with Membership enrolment – was temporarily bypassed by TM and subsequently re-organised due to a “glitch” in the system. 4. Vecinos Website. TM unavailable- no report 5. NHW update. Nothing to report other than the signs are still on their way from Central NHW. 6. Other business. a). Summer Party/Ball – Mk reported Final Numbers 108 guests attending including 24 guests, 2 meals for the entertainment. = 110 Meals total 46 Fish and 62 steak. 2 no shows but WF and MK had decided to put in a lower figure for attendees and no extra money was paid. (One discrepancy 25euros over one extra meal paid for – future events Treasurer to liaise final numbers with dinner organiser prior to payment). Door and Meal allocation worked well – Thanks to those involved on the door MK, JS, and RK. The board were grateful to local businesses who supplied prizes for the Event and the only complaint was from AE concerning the quality of the Steak on their table – the fish had excellent reports. A well organised and appreciated night by all involved. Photos to follow TM. b).. Street Cleaning. Almost nothing has been undertaken this year by the Ayuntamiento in the area of Sierra Altea 1 even though we were given “promises” by the Ayuntamiento that the streets would be cleaned every 4 to 6 weeks. Consequently the small trees and “Rubbish” lining the streets is disgusting and another Instancia has been raised. It was noted that it is now “summer” and it is unlikely that anything major will happen until September. c). TM has produced a very detailed study of traffic through the Avenida Principal started by his annoyance at the high speed of vehicles travelling along the road and subsequent noise of the vehicles going over the “anti-speed bumps” – which tend to be ignored by speeding motorists in the road. (Link below). It has been suggested that as an alternative, “Islands” could be put in to “slow down” the traffic speed, or at worst a couple of solar powered LED Speed signs placed in the street to “slow down” the speed of the traffic. It has been noted around Sierra Altea I that a few rubbish containers have been removed and other new separated rubbish containers (Glass, Paper, Waste), have been put in strategic positions, to replace them. A few “Paper Maps” have been put out by the Ayuntamiento indicating where the containers can be found but MK is to source some larger Maps to put in the Buzones for people to see where the Containers are. The success of these new positions and their capacity is of some question and it was decided that the board should “wait and see” what happened before making any comment to the Ayuntamiento on their new plan. e). The Buzon Lights have once again failed after considerable time being spent by TM and repairs by the company sourced by RK. The last bill was 763.80 euros (the lights failed again after only a couple of months) and a new estimate has been supplied by the same contractor for a further 318.59Euros. The Board generally were unhappy about the continual cost of this lighting repair and its failure to operate and RK will question the firm again as to their liability for the works carried out. As the lights are only really in use for 2 -3 months of the year maybe it would be better to install a cheaper system for a few euros and if broken replace it with another. The main priority is for the Post Office workers who find it difficult to see inside the cupboard. f,g,h,i). (As this is all to do with meetings I have itemised them under one heading). WF pointed out that there are meetings held by Altea Ayuntamiento held on the last Monday of each month at 12.00 discussing local issues with Committee and Local Businesses in the area and wherever possible Board Members are invited to attend. Emil Apeldoorn had attended an Ayuntamiento Meeting on 26th June which explained the new system of the ecological containers for rubbish and how the new system would work in the area. On the 5th July there was a meeting to explain the objectives for Altea’s plans for Parking, Beach Front and Amenities and on the 20th July there was a meeting of over 5 hours (attended by WF and APA – held completely in Spanish) setting out the future plans of Alta until the year 2022. This was attended by more businesses rather than associations working in the Altea area and promoting their businesses. j). APA reported that as times have changed it is important for us, as an association and as a Board of Directors we should be protected by a third party Insurance Cover. The one APA had sourced would be a 150 Euro excess for each claim and carry a premium of 175.15Euros. The consensus was that we should obtain more quotations before proceeding but that it was something the Association needed to look at.
