Minutes of Committee Members Meeting
Altea la Vella 02 May 2022.
The Meeting took place at the Golf and Country Club, Altea la Vieja at 11.35,
attended by the members of the committee:
Present were: Annette Eberhardt, Richard Kent, Anne Vandeborne, Miguel Devesa
(late arrival), Ellis de Jong, Angela Herran, Toni Canet, Wolfgang Fischer, Ismael
Fernandez.
Apologies for absence: Nellie Lozano, Boudewijn Overduin, Jerry Gomis, Lisa
Andretti, W v Oorde.
The meeting was conducted in English. The minutes were taken by Annette
Eberhardt in shorthand and written up by W v Oorde.
1. Minutes of Meeting of 4th April 2022 were approved
2. Treasurer’s Report:
a. Current Account
b. It was noted that the buzones cleaners had been paid as had Paco Alcaraz.
The next anticipated “large”outlay would be the in respect of the summer party.
3. Secretary’s Report:
a. There are currently 312 members.
4. Neighbourhood Watch and website.
NHW: the subject of cameras was raised again. Positioning them at the basura
locations would be a good start, from which point one could attempt to position them
in other strategic areas. It was noted that capturing images (eg. car number plates)
with “public” cameras was legally possible. This is nor the case with privately
installed cameras.
It was lamented that still no progress had been made in convincing the authorities to
become more active in respect of neighbourhood safety. It was suggested that the
Association might want to consider engaging a lawyer to represent its interests.
Ellis then proceeded to give a brief update on NHW activities in the period:
fewer break-ins reported in the period since last reported
meeting held at the Town Hall on 20th April with Juergen, Ellis, Jose Maria,
Miguel,Armando, Maria Lavios in attendance. “Cameras” was the main topic of
discussion - viz. –“break-in images from traffic cameras are admissible in court (nor
from privately installed cameras).”
Again suggested to install cameras at the basura pick-up locations (also admissible).
A plan was shared whereby the location of 7 additional cameras should be installed.
This plan has also been given to the Policia Local.
It was reported that the Town Hall had already requested quotes for additional
cameras.
5. Instancias: It was reported that the recent heavy rains had lead to numerous
holes being created in some of the roads in our area. Ellis undertook to take fotos of
the damage and forward to Wolfgang who would raise the appropriate instancia.
Calle Azalea and Calle Rosa are current examples. A different issue ( street rubbish)
has been particularly bad in San Cugat. Wolfgang is raising an instancia
6. Other points:
a) Neighbourhood cats: Wolfgang requested a list be provided of the cats that
already been spayed. It was noted that Euro 100 was still available from the original
budget and that it would seem sensible to request a further budget of Euro 500. This
would need to be agreed at the next AGM as well as questions regarding the
following:
a. Should the Association undertake to finance the cost of curing/caring for – or
euthanizing a sick cat?
b. What is the maximum annual budget for the euthanasia program?
c. Should food be included in the budget?
d. Maybe some members might wish to make a financial contribution to the
program?
b) “Meet the Neighbour”. Nothing to report
c) 2022 Summer party July 1st 2022: brief pre-planning; it was noted that final
details (menu, music etc) were still to be finalised. At this juncture the following was
agreed/discussed:
19.30 start. Jacaranda restaurant. Welcome glass of cava for each attendee.
Tapas, followed by dinner. 35 Euro per head, to include ½ bottle of wine and ½ litre
of water. Format of musical entertainment was discussed – no final decision taken,
other than that the proposal to have Flamenco music/dancers performing at some
stage during the evening (Euro 300 to 400), in addition to the cost providing dancing
music ( Euro 300 to 370) was deemed to be too costly.
Angela, Rudi, Miguel and Pascal would “source” lottery presents.
Postscript: subsequent to the meeting, the President and Treasurer agreed on both
music format (no flamenco), menu format as well as price for guests. These details
to be communicated at next meeting.
