News Letter December 2019
NEWSLETTER Winter 2021/2022
Dear members of the AVSA,
First of all - a big Thank-You:
Your Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place, as planned - and notified to you all
on several occasions - on 26th November 2021 at the Golf and Country Club, Altea
La Vella. A record number of members attended, even more surprising on account
of the pandemic. The feedback we received from attendees was positive, both with
regard to content and quality of presentations, and to the opportunity given –
formally as well as informally – to discuss issues that attendees felt needed to be
discussed.
We are also pleased to inform you that your committee was reelected – without
change – for a further year. The vote and the decision were unanimous. The
Committee is grateful for the confidence and for the trust that you have placed in
them. We believe we have a well-balanced and complimentary team, and we can
assure you that we will remain fully engaged in the coming year on behalf of the
residents of the two Urbanizaciones - Sierra Altea I and Sierra Altea Golf.
2022 Plans:
As in previous years we will work closely with the local Authorities and will maintain
our surveillance regarding status of the roads, rubbish collection, street lights,
neighbourhood cats, fire risk and prevention, water supply and security. In regard to
this last issue, we do implore you to maintain even more vigilance than usual, as the
Christmas holiday period is one where we tend to lower our guard. Furthermore, we
are receiving reports of break-ins and attempted break-ins in other areas.
Our intention is also to seek closer ties with our neighbouring Associations, that after
all, have to deal with similar issues. We hope to be able to draw on each other’s
experiences and to act more efficiently – and with a stronger voice - vis a vis the
relevant local authorities.
Covid restrictions permitting, we intend to hold our annual summer party. By all
accounts, the recent event at the Golf and Country Club was enjoyed by all who
attended (despite the mask wearing requirement).
We have been considering how to replicate the success of the summer party on a
more regular – and obviously more modest – basis, so as to allow members
(neighbours) to get better acquainted with both their fellow neighbours and the
committee members. We are therefore proposing that we hold regular events at the
Golf and Country Club - namely…….
once a month, on the first Monday of the month. We do not anticipate any language
issues since we will ensure that there will always be someone present who can, if
necessary, fulfil language translating duties.
We propose that the first event should take place on February 7th 2022 at 17.00 in
the Restaurant Jaccaranda (Golf and Country Club). Should there be a positive
response to this initiative, we would hope to be able to start offering/organizing
communal events, such as cooking courses, dancing courses, or even a game of
Boule, Indeed, there are multiple activities that can be initiated if there is sufficient
support and interest. (Suggestions from members would be welcome).
Nota Bene: we will require confirmation of your attendance at least one week before
the event is due to take place. This on account of Covid regulations and the need to
ensure that sufficient space is available etc etc.
Finally: as a reminder - the email address to contact a committee member is noted
at the top of each page. Also please take a periodic look at our webpage. Terry, our
webmaster, does an excellent job at maintaining it and posting interesting and
relevant information.
The committee wishes all members a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year!
Best Regards,
Your committee.
